Well, folks! Obama's administration has insisted it's out to create jobs for everyone. Yet for some reason, they've turned their backs on California farmers and puts 80,000 out of work, all for the sake of a fish - a stupid little 3" max fish.
I don't know why I'm surprised. I mean hey, they blame a non-existent thing called "global warming" on the California fire. So I guess it's only reasonable they should think the entire ecosystem will collapse if this stupid little smelt dies. If it weren't for the seriousness of it all, the things their itty-bitty brains come up with would be highly entertaining! Unfortunately, it's not. In their delusional state, they've forgotten a couple very important things!
1. We depend on farmers for food. Surprise!!! Food doesn't automatically appear on shelves! It comes from a farm, usually worked by migrant workers, who need the money and use part of it to support their families back where they came from. But that's ok. Saving a stupid 3" max fish is much more important and eating is over-rated.
2. Destroy the land and you'll have a heck of a time getting the same production level next time around. Did you know it can take years to get farmland back to it's previous level of productivity? Yes. It can. Trust me on that one. I live on a 300 acre farm. We used to grow corn and sold it to Russia so they could make vodka.
Oh! And trust me on the "hey, stupid little fish is not going to collapse the ecosystem." I worked in wildlife management. You know, the folks who manage wildlife to make sure your kids will still see animals outside of zoos long after you're dead and gone. Stupid little fish is not going to do anything.
However! Destroying prime farmland - will. It will create food shortages, which, in turn, will drive up food prices. Like we really need that right now.
Here's something you may not know. The government pays farmers not to farm and has for years. The excuse they give us is we have more food than we need. Since you'll take a loss, we'll pay you and make up the difference. Bear in mind, the government takes a loss every year for doing this.
Now, having said that! Let's take the food farmers no longer grow and combine it with the non-existent food being grown in California, and what have you got? Well, if your name is Burt Gummer - you've got a government conspiracy. By the way, just call me Burt.
We all know obama and his administration want a socialist society, where the government is so huge it makes a woolly mammoth look like Tinkerbell, and everyone is dependent on it for survival. The trick is getting people to go along with you. So how do you do it? You do it the way it has been done for centuries! You create enough crises and eventually the people, in an act of desperation, will willingly trade their freedom for a loaf of bread, or a tin of peas depending on what's available.
Keep watching and see if this doesn't happen. And if it doesn't? Well...I'll be incredibly happy!
